Sermons on The Means of Grace

Words that Work

Sermon Text: Matthew 4:1-11 Long ago, when two armies gathered to fight, sometimes in place of the battle, each army would pick an elite warrior (champion) who would represent their people and fight to the death. This weekend we watch a battle of champions that began in the Garden of Eden, continued in the Garden of Gethsemane and ended a few days later. Who will walk away the champion?

Special Visitors

Sermon Text: Genesis 18 There is a famous painting of Jesus standing at the door and knocking. It was painted in the 1940’s by Warner Sallman, an artist out of Chicago. What would it be like if Jesus knocked on your door or popped in for a visit? Would you open the door and invite him in? Would you ask him to wait on the porch while you straighten things up? Would you slam the front door and run out…

I Want to Know

Sermon Text: Philippians 3 When we want to learn things we can either “Google” it, or pull up a YouTube Video. Back in the Apostle Paul’s day the internet wasn’t quite what it is today. So if Paul wanted to know something had to either listen or experience it. This Sunday, he invites us say, “I Want to Know Christ,” right along with him so we never ever forget where our salvation comes from.

But the Bible describes them as “Wisemen.” Join this Sunday as we celebrate the Wisemen’s visit…

A Time to Pause

We will remember what happened on 9/11 with a special prayer and hymn at St. Paul’s. 20 years have passed, but the memories are fresh in the minds of those old enough to remember. This weekend, St. Paul’s pauses to remember what happened 125 years ago. The founders of this congregation recognized the need for Christian education…

Hungry?

A Scary Situation

You can also watch on our Vimeo page. Sermon Text: 2 Kings 22 What if a congregation hadn’t used a Bible in so long, they didn’t even have one laying around? What if a pastor and the church leaders didn’t know why they were doing what a church does every week? What if church members had gone without hearing the Word of God for so long, they didn’t even realize something was missing? Sounds strange, doesn’t it? This Sunday, join…

God of the Impossible – Pentecost Worship

You can also watch on our Vimeo page. Do you feel like you need a miracle right now? Maybe just a little one? What if I told you that there are miracles happening every day?
