There is a huge difference when you are on the receiving end of somebody doing something for you because they “have to,” or because they “want to.” We know and confess that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of whole world. Since you live in this world, that means Jesus died for you. Did he “have to” die for you, or did he “want to” die for you? It makes a difference!
This weekend at St. Paul’s, we are going to see how Peter’s bloody sword in the Garden of Gethsemane will provide the unmistakable answer to our “have to” or “want to” question.
