Some couples enjoy throwing dinner parties with carefully chosen menus, their finest flatware and silverware, linen tablecloths and napkins, creative centerpieces and delicious wines. These kinds of gatherings aren’t cheap. As a result, some may feel this is over-the-top and a foolish waste of time and money.
The couples who do this are expressing their appreciation for the friends they’ve invited. Today’s Bible story is similar in that some people saw what Mary did for Jesus as a foolish waste, while others saw her extravagant display as an expression of appreciation.
