Quick, give me the name of a priest in the Bible … any priest Old or New Testament? Prophets we know. Kings we know. But priests? Did you come up with Aaron, Moses’ brother? Or, Zechariah, John the Baptist’s father? Or those bad guys at Jesus’ trial, Caiaphas and his father-in-law, Annas? This weekend’s worship at St. Paul’s will add the name of another priest – Melchizedek. Maybe you’ve heard of him, maybe not. He was given one of the highest compliments you can receive – Jesus Christ was designated by God as a priest in the order of Melchizedek. Wow! But what does that mean? How did/does Jesus serve as my priest?
