Sermon Text: Mark 9:30-37
Muhammad Ali boasted, “I am the greatest!” In almost every sport there is discussion about the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time). Our society is obsessed with coming in first and seeking recognition for yourself. In our lesson this weekend, Jesus explains that greatness is about being last and serving others. That didn’t line up with his disciples’ viewpoint. What about being first and being served by others? That’s not our Savior’s way, nor is it what he wants for his followers. But serving is not easy on the ego.
Join us at St. Paul’s as Jesus shows us how humble service is the greatest thing we, as his children, can do. We’ll also be previewing one of the services from the new Christian Worship hymnals on WELS National Hymnal Week.
